Car Provenance — Keep the Story With the Car

Provenance is the paper trail enthusiasts care about when a build changes hands: who owned it, what was done to it, and how you prove that story later. CarCultureHQ is built so that trail can live with the ride — not disappear when a forum dies or a seller ghosts a spreadsheet.

What “provenance” means here

On CarCultureHQ, provenance is practical: a public ride page with photos and mods, a private Glovebox for titles and receipts, a Build Journal for work you want to show, and an ownership handoff that keeps the same vehicle record when the car sells. It is not a title company, NMVTIS report, or appraisal. Treat it as the enthusiast layer that sits beside official paperwork.

Heritage Passport — transfer the ride, not a blank garage

When you sell a car that already has a CarCultureHQ page, generate a short-lived claim code from Vehicle OS. The buyer claims it at /garage/claim, ownership moves on the same vehicle record, and prior owners show as usernames on the public ride — never emails. That chain is the on-platform provenance handoff.

Vehicle OS — where the receipts live

Vehicle OS is the owner toolkit behind every ride: service schedules, fuel, Glovebox documents, issues, privacy controls, and the transfer panel. Document work while you own the car so the next owner inherits more than a hero photo. Public pages stay on your terms — private docs stay in the Glovebox until you choose otherwise.

Mark a former ride, or signal a sale

Not every story ends with a clean sale. In Garage settings (or Vehicle OS → Transfer) you can mark a ride as a former car you used to own, and optionally note when you let it go. If you are open to offers or actively selling, set sale intent on the same screen — interested members message you on-site so your email never appears on the ride page.

Coming from CarDomain?

Thousands of builds lived on CarDomain before it went offline. CarCultureHQ is independent and not affiliated — but it is built for the same garage-first habit: a public ride page, mods, and a community that still cares about the car. Read the history and bring-back path on our CarDomain guide, then recreate the build or ask about an archived import.

A simple provenance checklist

  1. Create or claim the ride page and keep the hero + key photos current.
  2. Log mods and Build Journal entries with dates when you remember them.
  3. Store titles, receipts, and insurance packets in Vehicle OS Glovebox.
  4. When selling, use Heritage Passport so the next owner inherits the record.
  5. If you are only documenting a past car, mark it as a former owner ride.
